Urgent Change of Plan for Excursion

Hi All
The previous plan was to have students bring their school bags.  However this plan has changed and a note was sent home today.

Please ensure that they have recess and lunch in plastic bags clearly labelled with their name as well as a clearly labelled drink bottle.  They will need a clip board as they will be completing an activity sheet as they go around the Zoo.

Thank you
Miss Calvert

Zoo Excursion

Zoo Excursion
Just a reminder that Room 17, 21, and  will be going to the Zoo on Thursday.  Students will need to bring their school bags with the following items in them:

1. Lunch
2. Drink bottle
3. Hat and sunscreen
4. Raincoat or umbrella (just in case)
5. A clipboard (the students will be completing a worksheet on the way around the Zoo).

Be at school on time!

Thank you to those parents who offered to come along.  We had a great response and three parents were chosen. It was great to see so many parents wanting to be involved.  Don't worry if you missed out - I will find more opportunities for you to help during the rest of the year.

Lexile Pro

Congratulations to our first Lexile Pro Certificate winner!!  Shaun received a blue certificate for reading books and completing the quizzes.  I would love to see more students achieving certificates at the next assembly.  Remember to be successful: read the book fully, as soon as finished log onto Lexile and complete the quiz, have the book beside you when doing the quiz.  Now, start READING!!

Jump Rope for Heart

We had great fun doing the Jump Rope for Heart.  So far we have raised over $5,500 with money still coming in!!  Well done and thank you to all those who sponsored the students.  Big thank you to Mrs Oliver who organised the whole event.  The Jump Off was lots of fun with students moving through 5 different stations including a snack table - which also became the dance floor!

Life Education Van

On the 11 June we had a visit from the Life Education Van.  Room 17 went into the van and met Miss Hannah and Harold the Giraffe.  We read Harold's diary - with his permission off course!  We talked about bullying, drugs such as caffeine, how much sugar is in a bottle of coke and friendships.  We also got to watch some video clips about these things.  It was great fun and educational.

Fur, Feathers or Leaves?

Room 11 have been enjoying Science this term learning about living and non-living, animals and plants and classifying animals. The most fun was when we got to look through the leaf litter to see what sort of animals lived there.

WA Week Postcard Swap with our Buddies in Room 2

Week 8 Reminders

Entertainment Values Books
Last week these were handed out for parents to have a look at.  If you want to purchase it you keep the book and make your payment as per the letter enclosed with the book.  If you do not want to purchase then please return the book as soon as possible.  I need them all back by tomorrow - there are still a number outstanding.

Life Education Van Incursion
There is a session for parents in the van tomorrow, 9 June, at 1.45pm.
I am still waiting for some payments and permission slips for students.  Please send these in as soon as possible as they are now overdue.

Photo Order
School photos are coming up.  Order forms were sent home last week.  These need to be completed and return.

Talk Homework
Talk homework for writing tasks is usually sent home on Tuesday afternoons - unless we are having a cold write.  Please ensure you take time to discuss this with your child as a number of students are not completing this and are then less prepared for writing.  Talk homework is an opportunity for them to talk to you about the writing topic, discuss some ideas and some WOW words that could be used.
