Day and Night

This term, Room 17 have been learning about Day and Night during Science.  We have discovered that at night the Sun is on the other side of the Earth, the Sun is a star, the Moon is a satellite and the Earth is a planet. In these pictures, we compared the size of three balls - a basket ball, a tennis ball and a medium bouncing ball.  We made the Dylan and Zander walk back until all the balls looked the same size.  This shows us that, even though the Sun and the Moon look the same size, they are not.  The Moon is much closer to Earth than the Sun.

In the photos below, students worked in groups of three to try and work out how the Earth, Sun and Moon work together.  The Moon revolves around the Earth and the Earth revolves around the Sun.
